PAGAN FESTIVAL -- HOW TO VOLUNTEER

Volunteer at the Pagan Festival on Saturday, May 7 at Civic Center Park at Martin Luther King, Jr. Way (at Alston) in Berkeley near Downtown Berkeley BART
Gift your time to your community by volunteering at the Pagan Festival on Saturday, May 7th in Berkeley.
Transform the park by assisting with setting up a space to be enjoyed by all.
There are many ways you can help make the day a success. Setting up the festival or assist during the day at one of the many pavilions or booths. Meet authors, be crafty, hear inspirational speakers, and join in ritual.
Volunteer in the morning. Arrive at 7:00 am (1st shift), 8:00 am (2nd shift).
The following tasks are available: move bin, help set-up canopies, help set-up the Information Booth; Authors Circle and Children’s Arts and Crafts area; set-up recycling/trash bins; set-up back stage and stage decorations; and help build altars.
Coffee, juice, parties, bagels and fruit served. 1 1/2 blocks west of Downtown Berkeley BART.

Below is a detailed description of duties and positions to be filled.
-First Aid worker-Certified, RN or EMT
-Security (Morning and Afternoon)
-Crafts Assistant (a few hours)
-Volunteer Food Table
-Recycling/Trash Monitor (It’s a very important task to enable people to recycle correctly)
-Info Booth Assistant
-Set-up and Take-Down Assistants
-Assistant to the Festival Director-Perform tasks as needed throughout the day
-Decorations Crew-Stage, Info Booth and Crafts Area (you’re needed at 7:30 am to 10:30 am)
-May Pole Ritualist and Assistants
Summary of the Day:
We begin set-up at 7:00 am to 10:30 am - Light Breakfast of fruit, bagels, juice and coffee
Tasks include -Carry labeled and color coded bins to the Stage, Info Booth, Security, Children’s Crafts, Authors’ Circle and Altars.
Set-up Info Booth with Molly Blue Dawn
Decorate the Stage with Miss Tiki
Set-up the Green Room and fence back stage
Hang butterflies in the Children’s Craft area
Set up the water altar
Set-Up Recycling and Trash
Set-up First Aid Tent and Security area
Set-Up Story Telling Pavilion tent
Move and set up tables and chairs
9:00 am- Noon
Assist with final touches at Info, Stage, Children’s Crafts, May Pole, Authors’ Circle, Story Telling Pavilion.
Info booth, Children’s Crafts, May Pole, Trash/Recycling monitoring (change bags), Authors Circle, go-for for the stage, assist the Festival Director and Board Members, Sell raffle tickets benefiting Alameda County Food Bank and monitor Altars.
9:00 am-6:00 pm
Security-Security will be done in shifts. You’ll be assigned a partner and a two-way radio. Duties include, roaming the site, monitoring the stage loading, be a guardian during ritual, and duties as assigned by the Security Manager Benjamin Penn. 15 minute breaks given.
Take-Down and Clean up Fold up canopies and tents, load bins, clean up volunteer food area, help take down stage Green Room, take down 2 altars, remove decorations from stage and children’s craft area, fold up and stack tables and chairs (by 6:30 pm), fold up May Pole. And load truck.
Unload at Storage 7:00-7:30 pm
A trip to storage in Alameda and as a thank you, we treat you to dinner.
